Selection of NonState Civil Service Officers to the Indian Administrative Services

In terms of the provisions of IAS (Appointment by Selection) Regulations 1997, a Non-State Civil Service Officer is eligible to be considered for selection to the Indian Administrative Service, provided he/she-  (a) is of outstanding merit and ability; and   (b) holds a Gazetted post in a substantive capacity; and  (c) has completed not less than 8 years of continuous service under the State Government on the first day of January of the year in which his/her case is being considered in any post which has been declared equivalent to the post of Deputy Collector in the State Civil Service; and  (d) has not attained the age of 54 years on the 1st day of the January of the year for which the Select List is to be prepared. Dead zones are low-oxygen, or hypoxic, areas in the world’s oceans and lakes. Because most organisms need oxygen to live, few organisms can survive in hypoxic conditions. That is way these areas are called dead zones. Dead zones in the coastal oceans have spread exponentially since the 1960s and have serious consequences for ecosystem functioning. One of the largest dead zones forms in the Gulf of Mexico every spring. Hypoxic zones can occur naturally but climate change, nutrients run-off from the land, and eutrophication are leading to algal bloom and causing further depletion of oxygen level in water. Values are the individual principle or beliefs that guide judgement and behavior of a person or a group. Values are like an anchor in a ship. Values flow from the highest of our own self which are in inbuilt mechanism which distinguish the right from the wrong, the Do’s and Don’ts of any action even when no one is looking.  The word ethics has been derived from the Greek word ‘ethos’ meaning ‘character’. Ethics is a branch of philosophy that refers to a study of rightness or wrongness of human action in the context of a good human life. Professional competence is always evaluated within the boundary of ethics and norms associated with the profession.  A person can be professionally competent and expert but if the practices certain immoral acts, it will be refereed as unethical which will in turn hamper the transparency, efficiency, effectiveness, public trust etc. And thus these unethical conducts will erode the roots of the profession itself, harming the stakeholders.

EDUSAT Satellite, ISRO

GSAT-3, known as EDUSAT is meant for distant class room education from school level to higher education. This was the first dedicated "Educational Satellite" that provide the country with satellite based two way communication to class room for delivering educational materials. INSAT-4CR Satellite, ISRO

GSLV-F04 is the fifth flight of India's Geosynchronous Satellite launch Vehicle (GSLV), launched INSAT-4CR satellite, into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) of 170 km perigee and 35,975 km apogee with an orbital inclination of 21.7 degree with respect to equator on September 2, 2007. Subsequently, the satellite was manoeuvred into geostationary orbit using its own propulsion system. The 49 m tall GSLV, with a lift-off mass of 415 tonne, is a three-stage vehicle with solid, liquid and cryogenic stages. The first stage of GSLV, one of the largest in the world, uses Hydroxyl Terminated Polybutadiene (HTPB) based propellant. The second stage and the four strap-on motors surrounding the first stage use liquid propellant 'Vikas' engine burning UH25 and Nitrogen Tetraoxide. Subhash Chandra Bose was a prominent freedom fighter who has made an immense contribution to the freedom of our country. India’s Public Distribution System (PDS) is the largest distribution network of its kind in the world. PDS was introduced around World War II as a war-time rationing measure. The Public Distribution System (PDS), till 1992, was a general entitlement scheme for all consumers without any specific target. The Revamped Public Distribution System (RPDS) was launched in June 1992. Subsequently, in 1997, the government launched the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS), with a focus on the poor. TPDS aims to provide subsidized food and fuel to the poor through a network of ration shops.
