Committee On Food Management In Parliament House Complex

The Speaker, in consultation with the Chairman, Rajya Sabha, has constituted w.e.f. 15 October, 2009, the Committee on Food Management in Parliament House Complex, consisting of 15 members, 10 from Lok Sabha and 5 from Rajya Sabha, with the following terms of reference:- 

(i) to consider the revision of rates of eatables served at Railway Catering Units located in Parliament House Complex; 

(ii) to consider the level of subsidy to be given for running Railway Catering Units in Parliament House Complex; 

(iii) to consider provision of excellent canteen services to members; and 

(iv) to consider other related issues. The Committee shall hold office for a term not exceeding one year.

The 73rd Amendment along with 74th is called a silent revolution. The most revolutionary provision is said to be the reservation of one-third of the seats for women in local bodies (including the number of seats reserved for women belonging to the SCs and STs). Contributions of Sir M. Visvesvaraya and Dr. M. S. Swaminathan in the fields of water engineering and agricultural

Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya was a civil engineer and statesman. He made contributions to several technical projects in his career in Hyderabad, Mysore, Maharashtra and Orissa. Can a candidate change his/her Community Status in UPSC application?

A candidate is eligible to get the benefit of community reservation if his/her caste/tribe is included in the reserved community as may be determined by the Central Government and he/she has claimed for the same. The Commission does not entertain a request for change of community from Page 4 of 19 unreserved to reserved category once the examination process is initiated. However, in some exceptional cases where a particular caste/tribe is included in the list of reserved community within 3 months from the date of submission of application, the Commission may consider a request of change of community as a special case. In case of a candidate unfortunately becoming physically disabled during the course of the examination process, the candidate should produce valid document showing him/her acquiring a disability to the extent of 40% or more as mentioned in the relevant rules to enable him/her to get the benefits of PwBD reservation.

Global distribution of Fold Mountains and the Earthquakes and Volcanoes.

Fold mountains are formed from sedimentary rocks that accumulate along the margins of continents, when two tectonic plates move together. When the plates and the continents riding on them collide, the accumulation layers of rock may crumple and fold, particularly if there is a mechanically weak layer such as salt.
