India’s plan to have its own space station and how will it benefit our space programme

Space station is also called orbital station. It orbits around Earth. Basically, it is a large spacecraft or man-made station in space, a home where astronauts live. It also receive several space crafts from the Earth. It is a kind of science lab, many countries worked together to build it and also, work together to use it. Recently ISRO chief said ‘We are planning to have a separate space station. We will not be a part of ISS. GSAT-24 Mission

NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), a Govt. of India company under Department of Space (DoS) is undertaking GSAT-24 satellite mission as its 1st Demand Driven mission post space reforms. GSAT-24 is a 24-Ku band communication satellite weighing 4180 kg with Pan India coverage for meeting DTH application needs. NSIL has leased the entire satellite capacity to M/s Tata Play. The status update on GSAT-24 mission GSAT-24 satellite after completing assembly, integration and environmental test was cleared by PSR (Pre-Shipment Review) committee on May 2, 2022.     Satellite and its allied equipments were shipped to Kourou, French Guiana on May 18, 2022 using C-17 Globemaster aircrafts. Satellite was received in Kourou on May 19, 2022. As part of launch campaign activities, the satellite is presently undergoing health/ performance checks at clean room facilities in French Guiana. Launch on-board Ariane-V VA257 flight is scheduled for June 22, 2022

Indian Regional Navigational Satellite System (IRNSS) and How does it help in navigation

Indian Regional Navigational Satellite System (IRNSS), operational name Navigation with Indian constellation (NavIC), is an indigenously developed autonomous regional satellite navigation system that provides accurate real-time positioning and timing services. It covers India and a region extending 1500 km around it, with plans for future expansion. However, unprecedented global warming and climate change combined with growing local pressures have resulted in destruction of coral reefs to a large extent.  Impact of global warming on the coral life system:  Coral Bleaching  • The impacts from coral bleaching are becoming global in scale, and are increasing in frequency and intensity.  • Mass coral bleaching generally happen, when temperatures around coral reefs exceed 1 degree Celsius above an area’s historical norm for four or more weeks. Rohini Satellite RS-1

RS-1 was a 35 kg experimental spin stabilized satellite designed with a power handling capability of 16W. It was successfully launched onboard SLV-3 from SHAR Centre on July 18, 1980 into an orbit of 305 x 919 km with an inclination of 44.7°. All the fourth stage parameters of SLV-3 were successfully telemetered to the ground stations by RS-1 during the launch phase.  The satellite had an orbital life of 9 months. The satellite carried Digital sun sensor, Magnetometer and temperature sensors.
